Mission

Build reliable autonomy for real-world impact.

We are a multidisciplinary UBC design team specializing in autonomous drones and their support systems. We obsess over modular airframes, resilient software, and ground tools that can handle competition day chaos.

  • Concept-to-flight programs across aircraft, payload, and software.
  • Rapid validation loops with ground control and mission rehearsal tooling.
  • Knowledge-sharing that prepares students to lead aerospace innovation.

Who Are We?

UBC UAS is a cross-campus collective of builders, pilots, analysts, and storytellers. We operate like a product team: flight systems, autonomy, avionics, business, and ops pushing toward the same mission.

Ready To Fly With Us?

Join the team building Canada’s most versatile autonomous systems.

Students from every discipline contribute to airframes, payloads, operations, and outreach. Whether you want to design composite structures, write flight code, or tell our story, there’s a squad waiting for you.

Systems In Focus

Hydrone

Modular multi-rotor delivering precision drops and ISR.

GCOM

Ground control software consolidating telemetry, imagery, and reports.

What We Do

  • Build mission-ready airframes for AEAC and SUAS missions every year.
  • Prototype payloads, avionics, and ground control that move beyond classroom theory.
  • Mentor students through reviews, masterclasses, and alumni-led critiques.

How We Do It

  • Design sprints that take concepts to CAD to composite structures.
  • Software-in-the-loop testing with dedicated ground control hardware.
  • Operations, sponsorship, and media teams keeping the program sustainable.
